The slaughtering for poultry and livestock not only has close relationship with meat quality and sanitary condition, but also has great impact on the environmental health. Therefore, regardless the sizes and equipment condition of poultry processing plants, site choosing should be complied with current national regulation and internal layout of the facility must meet the requirements of health principle.
The construction of poultry processing plant should obey the flowing principle: cost-effective layout, zoning, and high level of sanitary level. Among them, the most important is sanitary level.
Designated site of slaughterhouse (abattoir) construction,
1. Should be away from IZ, schools, hospitals, water resource and other public places, from where at least 500m or more,
2. Should try to avoid located in the upstream and upstream and upwind or downstream and downwind of residential areas, to prevent pollution and contamination,
3. The distance between ground water level and ground should be more than 1.5m, to ensure site dry and clean,
4. Convenient transportation means the site should relatively close to the road, rail or dock, but not located on the main roads;
5. Should be with good natural lighting and ventilation;
6. Building orientation facing south or south east is better
7. Terrain should be high and dryness, flat and with a certain inclination to be convenient for vehicle transportation and waste water (sewage) drainage
8. should avoid toxic gases and dust to contaminate meat from the nearby industrial plants or chicken processing plant itself. Enough and clean water resource supply; in addition, should respect national customs.
