High temperature and high humidity is very common phenomenon in Summer, which is easily to cause the chicken heat stress, lower the body immunity, and seriously influence the layer production effect. In order to avoid this, feeding and managing in Summer is rather important for layer.
Improve the chicken house environment. Try to use ventilation cooling system by exhaust fan. On the house roof, heat insulation plate should be added, if conditional, farmer can install shower within the chicken house. Sunshine shade installed on the window, or use 15% whitewash, to reflect partial sunshine. Green belt need to be planted around the house.
Chicken body cooling. Reasonable structure, vertical axis of chicken house is west-eastwith transom window, to ensure the air circulation and increase ventilation rate.
Improve the energy standard of feed. Hot summer lower the feed intake, especially protein and energy. Therefore, in order to produce more eggs, feed formulation need to be readjusted to use fat instead ofpartial carbohydrate. In addition, it should add appropriate electrolytes sodium, potassium, chloride and others to maintain electrolyte balance or increase alkaline reserve, to effectively reduce the heat stress response. Vitamin E has anti-stress effects on physiology and synergistic effect with riboflavin on reducing heat stress.
Reasonably adjust the feed-adding time. At 7:00 and 15:00, adding once; 10:00 and 18:00, refining once. At the same time, a certain amount of shell material provided in the afternoon for calcium absorption
Reduce the temperature of the drinking water. Lower the temp of drinking water can improve the feed intake, prevent the egg production decline and ensure the quality of egg shell.
Supplements of vitamin C. Vitamin C added to the diet for chicken in the high temp environment can obviously relive heat stress. Test shows that adding 0.02~0.03 of vitamin C in thedaily ration, egg production rate can be increased by 11.1 and breaking the shell rate can be reduced by 1.5%. Finally , feed-gain ratio obviously improve as well as egg quality. Therefore, supplement of vitamin C should be continuously supplied in Summer
Pay attention to the daily hygiene and cleanliness. Strengthen the washing and cleaning for the floor, walls, roofs, cages, feed trough , and water tube in the chicken house, which can lower the dust and microorganism. Disinfection conducted 2-3 times a day, which can kill the bacteria and viruses from the chicken body, air and floor, as well as purify air.
Pay attention to the rational drug use. Many drugs may cause bad influence on layer, such assulfonamides, streptomycin sulfate and some anti-coccidial drugs will influence the egg production rate.
Note on rational drug use many drugs laying hens production will adversely affect performance, such as: sulfa drugs, streptomycin sulfate, and certain anti-coccidiosis drugs will affect egg production rate. Therefore, in the daily production to try to use less or no impact on egg production of the drug.
